Dancing Out of The Dust

  • The Yards Collective 50-52 Public Market Way Rochester, NY 14609 United States (map)

About the Performance:

Dancing Out of The Dust

About the Performance: As Pablo Picasso once said, “Art washes from the soul the dust of everyday life.”

At 10:00 am and 12:00 pm on Saturday, August 28th dancers will be scattered throughout the Public Market. When you find them, follow them! The dancers will gather in unison at their final destination outside of The Yards Collective! Afterward, join us upstairs for some collaborative wall art.

This piece was created to demonstrate our continuous need for connection. We will express the vulnerability and beauty of being human in a time when community care and partnership are more important than ever for our collective healing and growth. Together we can choose to rise up and dance out of the dust.

This experience is family-friendly and free to the public! We encourage photos/videos. Tag @attheyards and @erikaruegemer. Use #dancingoutofthedust

*Group choreography by Erika Ruegemer. Duets and trios choreographed by the dancers.

About The Artistic Director: Erika Ruegemer is a trained dancer and choreographer from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her specialty is creating temporary worlds within empty spaces or already existing environments with no clear division between the audience and the artists. Erika often collaborates with local musicians and artists to awaken and inspire art venues, outdoor locations, and abandoned areas. She thrives on the spirit of innovation, community, and natural progression. With each new project, Erika has seen the community reconnect with everyday places.

As she prepares to move home to Minneapolis in the fall, Erika looks forward to sharing one more dance experience with the Rochester community! Follow Erika on Instagram and Facebook @erikaruegemer
