Call for Art-  Not For Sale. (Maybe)

A Little Something Special for Our 15th Anniversary 🎉 The prompt is: Favorite pieces that you keep for yourself. (Or maybe willing to part with for the right price.)

As we head toward The Yards’ 15th anniversary, I’m incredibly excited to finally share something I’ve been waiting on for a very long time. After a decade and a half of patiently watching, waiting, hoping and hearing weird noises (iykyk)…. the last remaining unit at the top of the stairs is finally becoming part of The Yards. That means everything above Java’s/Cure is now officially Yards territory!

And this expansion isn’t just about adding another room — it’s about creating more opportunities for our community. One of our own Yards Members, Jim Fischer, will be joining me in curating and directing this new space. As Co-Directors of this new space together, we’re going to create a gallery and flexible workspace focused on beautiful 2D exhibitions, photography, workshops, and small gatherings.

I am very much looking forward to this opportunity. Jim brings years of gallery and management experience from both New York and New Jersey, and I know we both have a lot to learn from each other. I’m excited to have another person bringing their ideas, experience, and perspective to the table as The Yards continues to grow.

The space will be called The Fischer Gallery at The Yards, giving us a way to keep exhibitions in the new gallery distinct while still feeling connected to everything happening here at The Yards.

And that brings us to our first call for participation:

We want to see the pieces you love the most.
The artwork you made that you couldn’t bring yourself to sell. The piece that lives on your wall. The one that means something to you. Or maybe the one you’d consider parting with… for the right price. 😉

We’re starting things off with a show built around those personal favorites, and we’d love for our Yards Members to be part of launching this new space with us.

The soft opening will be October 31, followed by the grand opening on November 6 — First Friday!

I’m so excited to finally open this door — literally and figuratively — and I can’t wait to see what we create together. ❤️

Submit your artwork via this Google form by September 26th, 2026 for consideration. Artworks should be delivered by October 13th, 2026 and all submissions following our code of conduct are accepted. We can't wait to see your creativity on display! 🖼  ***There will be no extension to drop off times available.***

Drop Off Times Include:

  • First Friday, October 2nd from 6-9pm

  • Saturday October 3rd 10am-2pm

  • Saturday October 10th from 10am-2pm

  • Tuesday October 13th from 6-8pm (Co-Create Night)

  • Or by appointment!

Submission Guidelines:

  1. Medium: 2D ( this new gallery space will be a 2D specific gallery space)

  2. Size and Format: Please ensure your submissions are suitable for display in our exhibition space. Provide details regarding dimensions, framing, or any special requirements.

  3. Number of Submissions: Members may submit up to ONE piece not to exceed 48" 

  4. Artist Statement: Along with your artwork, include an optional brief artist statement (100-200 words) explaining the inspiration, concept, or meaning behind your work. OR include why its a piece thats NFS. Keep in mind- this will be on display in a group portfolio book, not next to your artwork.

  5. Submission Deadline: Submit your artwork via the Google form by September 26th, 2026 for consideration. Artworks should be brought in person by October 13th, 2026, and all submissions following our code of conduct are accepted. Why two dates? The first date is to collect the info of who is participating- often folks need reminders. Thats why I have the drop off date set to the 26th so I can pester people if they have not dropped off their work yet. This also gives me ample time to work on tags and other documents. Ex. If you submit your info on October 15th thats too late and you will not be participating in the show. 

  6. Art should arrive ready to hang/install with clear directions. Your artwork should also be labeled clearly- Name, Title, Price.

  7. If your NFS piece sells.... For sales of artwork the Yards will be taking a gallery commission rate of 30% to cover taxes and fees. Kristina Kaiser & Jim Fischer will be curating the exhibit & leading installation. 


The show will take place October 31st, 2026 until November 28th, 2026 with the reception on October 31st 10am-2pm (Soft Opening) & First Friday November 6th from 6-9pm (Grand Opening). We will begin accepting artworks on site at The Yards starting October 2nd! For shipping arrangements please email Kristina. Failure to fill out this form by the submission deadline of September 26th will result in your work not being included in this exhibition.
