NICK & NICK

Their work is inspired by similar emotions, however it is portrayed in a completely different manner from one another. Through this juxtaposition the viewer is invited to delve into the intimate details of this immersive installation. Their work is created as a result of investigating experiences with illness, loss, and recovery within their personal lives. Through exploration of materials the Nick’s have found a way to process life altering experiences and explain situations through visual abstraction. Each artist aims to address and cope with the internal struggles associated with these medical complications. Nicholas Gates works include steel, plaster and wax, meanwhile Nicholas LaTona uses paper, pigment, wax and thread. Their work is interactive, encouraging the viewer to walk around and explore the piece while considering the delicate nuances of the human body.
