Inspired by the surrealist and pop-art movements, G. E. DeGroat’s “Free Association” series consists of paintings and drawings that present a survey of physical and metaphysical worlds. Through high contrast visual language, DeGroat reflects on the vast amount of data humans consume and internalize daily. 
“Free Association” explores various mental landscapes including individualism, consumerism, symbolic & interpretive anthropology, and cultural materialism.
